Healthcare IT News caught up with Ed Brown at the recent ATA conference in Austin, Texas, to talk with him about the state of telemedicine and what he envisions it will be in the coming years.
Ed Brown sees that everything what is needed to drive telemedicine to the next level is in place. Telemedicine is going to be ‘virtual healthcare’, so it’s everything what you can do to support the healthcare via virtual technologies. He believes people understand the technology more and more and see the benefits. This is important to be able to change healthcare.
We believe that ‘virtual healthcare’ is a good word for telemedicine. It says that telemedicine can support at every point within the healthcare environment. It is a good development that there are more and more private insurers who are supporting telemedicine. And there’s legislation in development in about 30 states in the US. So telemedicine is going to be broadly accepted.
